Red sandalwood (Pterocarpus santalinus) has been traded across the Indian Ocean for more than two thousand years, valued in Ayurvedic practice and Chinese traditional medicine for its dense heartwood. The beads are turned from African varieties of the species, selected for grain uniformity and color depth. Sandalwood mala bracelets have formed part of devotional practice across Nepal, Tibet, and southern China for centuries, prized for their light weight and longevity.

Available in four bead diameters: six, eight, ten, and twelve millimeters, allowing a choice between finer delicacy and more visible presence on the wrist. Each bracelet is strung on elastic cord for daily wear, with beads individually turned to consistent diameter within a tolerance of half a millimeter. The surface is left matte-polished rather than lacquered, which allows the wood’s own oils to condition the bead face over time.
