A struck bowl sustains its tone for nearly a full minute before the surrounding air absorbs it, leaving only the faint memory of resonance.

Singing bowls have been cast and played across the Himalayan region for centuries, present in ritual, in ceremony, and in the daily rhythms of monasteries extending from the Kathmandu Valley to the high plateaus of Tibet. The instruments on this recording were gathered across Nepal and Tibet over several years, each chosen for the particular character of its fundamental frequency and the way its overtones sustain under a struck blow.

The recording layers singing bowls struck and sung, hand drums played at a resting cadence, and overtone frequencies captured without digital compression or post-production equalization. No reverb was added. The acoustic environment of each atelier is preserved throughout, including the natural decay of each instrument and the ambient conditions of the recording space. Sessions were conducted in working ateliers, not isolation studios, and that distinction is audible.

The Sonic Descent is a 60-minute audio recording delivered as a digital download. It contains no narration, no guided instruction, and no spoken content of any kind. Instruments originate from Nepal and Tibet. The file is compatible with any standard audio player or media application. No physical product is shipped.
