Description

Nine varieties of premium Chinese loose-leaf tea, each packaged in a matte black aluminium foil stand-up bag with gold calligraphy. Sourced from established gardens since 1979, sealed in a resealable zipper bag to preserve freshness after opening.

Varieties

  • Jin Jun Mei (金骏眉) — Golden Eyebrow black tea from Wuyi Mountain, Fujian. Notes of honey, caramel and a clean sweet finish. One of China’s most prized black teas.
  • Tie Guan Yin (铁观音) — Iron Goddess of Mercy oolong from Fujian. Complex orchid fragrance, light body, lingering floral finish.
  • Da Hong Pao (大红袍) — Grand Red Robe oolong from Wuyi Mountain. Rich, roasted and complex with mineral depth. Multiple steeps reward patience.
  • Lapsang Souchong (小种红茶) — Xiao Zhong black tea from Fujian, dried over pine smoke. Distinctive warming character, ideal for winter brewing.
  • Jasmine Flower Tea (茉莉花茶) — Green tea scented with fresh jasmine blossoms during production. Light, clean and naturally fragrant.
  • Jasmine Dragon Pearl (茉莉龙珠) — Hand-rolled jasmine pearls, premium grade. Each pearl slowly unfurls in the cup, releasing successive waves of jasmine aroma.
  • Yunnan Golden Thread (滇红金丝) — Dian Hong black tea from Yunnan with abundant golden buds. Smooth, malty and full-bodied with no astringency.
  • Osmanthus Black Tea (桂花红茶) — Black tea blended with dried sweet osmanthus flowers. Delicate floral sweetness without added flavouring.
  • Black Oolong (黑乌龙) — Heavily roasted dark oolong. Full-bodied, coffee-like character. Traditionally consumed with rich or oily foods.

How to brew Chinese tea

Use 3–5g per 150ml of water at 85–95°C depending on variety (lower for green-adjacent teas, higher for black teas and oolongs). Steep 30 seconds for the first infusion, increasing by 15 seconds for each subsequent steep. Most of these teas yield 4–6 quality steepings.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the 100g, 250g and 500g sizes? Same tea, same quality, different quantity. The 250g and 500g bags offer better value per gram for daily drinkers.

Are these teas suitable for gongfu cha ceremony? Da Hong Pao, Tie Guan Yin, Jin Jun Mei and Black Oolong are ideal for gongfu cha. The others can be brewed Western-style or grandpa-style.

Do these pair with the Chinese Gongfu Tea Ceremony Set? Yes. The ceramic set is designed for these exact varieties.
