A natural rosewood mala bracelet, each bead turned from dense, resin-rich wood and strung on silk. The color is a warm reddish-brown that deepens with wear. The scent, faint and woody, is present at first and mellows over time.

Wood mala beads have been carried and counted in Buddhist traditions across South and Southeast Asia for centuries, rosewood favored for its density, durability, and the quality of its grain. The rosewood used in these bracelets comes from sustainably managed forests in Vietnam, where traditional bead-turning is still practiced by artisan families in Hue and the surrounding provinces. Rosewood’s natural oils mean the beads condition slowly as they are worn, each piece developing a patina that is entirely its own.

Each bracelet holds 27 beads at 10mm diameter, a slightly larger format than stone malas and heavier in the hand at approximately 22 grams. The wood is turned to a uniform sphere and lightly sanded to a smooth matte finish, then strung on waxed cotton cord with a hand-tied knot between each bead. No lacquer or stain is applied: the surface is left to develop naturally through handling. Circumference sits at 18 to 20 centimetres, with a single adjustable slip knot for fit.
