Description

Japanese imperial ceremonial matcha begins as a meeting with stillness. The tin opens to a color that reads closer to pine than grass, a cool, powdered jade milled to a fineness that settles against the skin like silk.

The fields of Uji, south of Kyoto, have supplied Japan’s imperial court and its foremost tea houses for over eight centuries. Shaded for three to four weeks before the first harvest, the tencha leaves accumulate chlorophyll and L-theanine under controlled darkness, then are stone-milled at a rate of thirty grams per hour. This grand cru grade has never entered commercial blending. It is picked once, in spring, from gardens whose cultivar lineage is documented across generations.

Each tin holds 30 grams of powder milled to a particle size below ten microns, fine enough to remain suspended in whisked water rather than settling. The color holds at vivid jade under daylight. Flavor registers as umami-first: a long, green sweetness with no astringency at the back of the palate. The tin is sealed with an inner foil lid and measures 7 cm in diameter by 9 cm in height, designed for a single ceremonial season of use.

Japanese ceremonial-grade matcha powder, stone-milled from shade-grown tencha leaves harvested once each spring. Origin: Uji, Kyoto, Japan. Net weight: 30g per tin. Color profile: vivid jade green. Particle size: below ten microns. Packaging: sealed foil-lined tin, 7 cm diameter. Category: tea, ritual preparation, gift.

This is the grade the imperial court kept for itself. It rewards slowness entirely. One tin, one season, no shortcuts.
