Obsidian tiger’s eye mala bracelets have grounded practitioners across Asia for centuries. Worn close to the skin, this pairing of deep volcanic glass and luminous golden stone offers contrast that is immediately felt: cool weight beside warm sheen, darkness beside amber light.
Obsidian, formed from rapidly cooled volcanic lava, has been worked into ritual objects across East Asia for thousands of years. In Tibetan and Chinese Buddhist traditions, it appears in protective amulets and counting beads. Tiger’s eye originates primarily from South Africa and Western Australia, though it has circulated through trade routes into Asian markets since antiquity. Its chatoyant shimmer, produced by fibrous crocidolite mineral inclusions, made it prized by craftspeople who read meaning into the movement of light within stone.
This bracelet is strung on high-tensile elastic cord, allowing it to slip over the wrist without a clasp. The beads measure 8mm in diameter, each closely strung to maintain even spacing around the full circumference. Obsidian beads are smooth and cold to the touch, their surface a deep matte black broken only by natural inclusions. Tiger’s eye beads show the characteristic silk-like shimmer under light. The bracelet fits a standard adult wrist and can be worn singly or stacked.
