Description

Cool and faintly translucent against the light, natural jade has a particular stillness that has drawn human hands to it for thousands of years.

Jade has been central to Chinese material culture for at least seven thousand years, valued above gold and silk in classical thought as a marker of virtue, moral character, and connection to celestial forces. In Chinese tradition, jade is sometimes called the Stone of Heaven. The Chinese zodiac, a twelve-year cycle in which each year is governed by a different animal, has structured the traditional calendar and individual identity since at least the Han Dynasty. Pendants bearing one’s birth year animal have long functioned as personal talismans, linking the wearer to the protective symbolism associated with that cycle.

Each pendant is carved by hand from natural jade sourced in Myanmar, historically the primary origin of the world’s finest jadeite. The carving depicts the wearer’s zodiac animal in relief, with detailed work executed by artisans trained in traditional stone-cutting techniques. Each piece is finished smooth and drilled for attachment to a cord or chain.

The pendant is carved from natural Myanmar jadeite. Twelve variants are available, one for each animal of the Chinese zodiac. Specific dimensions and weight are not listed. No cord or chain is included. Country of origin: Myanmar.

Jadeite varies naturally in color and translucency from piece to piece, so each pendant is materially distinct. A cord or chain must be sourced separately for wear.
