Description

The “Mystica Blue” handcrafted wood and resin lotus pendant holds a deep turquoise lotus bloom suspended in polished clear resin above a natural hardwood base cut to a teardrop profile. The combination of organic wood grain and optically clear resin produces an object that reads differently at each hour of the day as light conditions change. It belongs to the studio resin craft tradition developed in Southeast Asia, where makers began casting pigmented elements in layered resin to preserve them as wearable art.

The pendant measures approximately 40 mm across the lotus form and 55 mm in total drop including the bail. Weight is approximately 10 grams. The lotus is formed from pigmented resin tinted to a deep turquoise, set within optically clear resin poured over a natural hardwood base. The hardwood is cut to a teardrop profile and sanded smooth before the resin pours begin. Each clear layer is applied and polished to remove haze before the next is added, a process that produces the depth and optical clarity visible in the finished piece. The bail is stainless steel. Because each piece of wood carries its own grain pattern, no two pendants are identical.

Wear on a chain or cord, sold separately. The pendant is 55 mm in total drop, a length suited to a mid-length chain that allows the piece to rest below the collarbone where the lotus is clearly visible. To care for the resin, avoid prolonged moisture and direct sunlight, both of which can affect clarity and surface finish over time. Clean with a dry soft cloth. The stainless steel bail is corrosion-resistant and compatible with standard chain gauges.

The lotus has occupied a central position in Asian material culture for more than three thousand years, appearing in Buddhist iconography across India, China, and Southeast Asia as a form associated with purity and the emergence of clarity from difficult conditions. In craft traditions from Bali to Chiang Mai, the motif is worked into wood, bronze, and lacquer as a compositional anchor. The turquoise color of the lotus in this piece connects to a long tradition in Buddhist iconography where the blue lotus, or utpala, carries associations with wisdom and the particular purity of things that endure.

A common buyer question: is the wood in this pendant real wood or a composite? The base is natural hardwood, not a composite or veneer. The wood grain visible through the resin is genuine and varies from piece to piece. Because the resin is poured over cut wood, the grain and color of the base contribute to the individual character of each pendant, making no two pieces optically identical.
