Qi Gong exercise balls originate in Baoding, Hebei Province, China, where artisans have produced them since the Ming Dynasty. Each ball is worked by hand: the dragon motif pressed into the steel shell, the interior chime mechanism calibrated so that two spheres in motion produce distinct, complementary tones.
