The Caishen wealth god statue stands here in two auspicious hardwoods: black sandalwood, close-grained and dark, with a faint natural fragrance; and padauk, warm and reddish, deepening in color over years of light and handling. Each is carved by hand.

Caishen, the Chinese God of Fortune, has been venerated and depicted in sculpture for more than a thousand years, with his canonical form established during the Tang and Song dynasties. He appears in homes, businesses, and temples throughout China, Taiwan, and the Chinese diaspora, particularly during Chinese New Year, as a figure of prosperity and generosity. The tradition of carving his image in sandalwood and padauk is associated with regional workshops in Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, where fine wood carving has been practiced across centuries of unbroken lineage.

Available in seated or standing pose, in multiple sizes ranging from a compact 10cm desk piece to a standing figure at approximately 30cm. Black sandalwood is dense and fine-grained, with a surface that polishes to a near-lacquer depth. Padauk is slightly warmer in tone, its grain open and rich. Each statue is hand-carved and hand-finished, with robes, headdress, and the characteristic ingot rendered in relief. The base is flat and stable without a separate stand.
