Description
Wood Amitabha Buddha trio, three figures rendered in hand-carved pine, arriving as a single balanced composition. The warmth of the grain, the low settled weight, the quiet symmetry: this is presence before it becomes meaning.
This trio draws from the Pure Land tradition of East and Southeast Asian Buddhism, where Amitabha, the Buddha of Boundless Light, is flanked by two great Bodhisattvas: Avalokitesvara on his left, embodying compassion, and Mahasthamaprapta on his right, embodying wisdom. The grouping appears across temple altars from China through Vietnam and Korea, carved in wood for centuries. Pine was chosen for its workability and its long association with longevity in Chinese material culture.
Each figure is hand-carved from solid pine, sanded to a smooth matte finish that retains the wood’s natural grain. Amitabha sits at center in dhyana mudra, eyes half-lowered. The flanking Bodhisattvas stand slightly shorter, creating a natural visual hierarchy. The set spans approximately 20 cm across when grouped; individual figures range from 10 to 15 cm in height. The weight is light enough for a shelf, substantial enough to anchor a surface. No staining: natural pine color throughout.
Hand-carved pine wood trio. Set of three figures: Amitabha Buddha flanked by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta. Individual figure height approximately 10 to 15 cm. Total grouped span approximately 20 cm. Natural unfinished pine. Buddhist Pure Land iconography. Origin: East Asia.
A complete sacred grouping in natural wood. Grounded in one of Asia’s oldest devotional traditions. Made to last.
