Description
Shuimo — water-ink — is the technique at the foundation of Chinese painting: pigment diluted and layered in controlled washes to build form through tone rather than line. This fan applies that principle to silk, printing large grey peonies and orchid sprigs against a cream-white ground so that the florals read simultaneously as contemporary pattern and as a direct reference to the monochrome scroll paintings of the Song and Ming periods.
The restraint of the palette makes this the most interior-design-ready fan in the range. It reads as neither overtly Chinese nor generically decorative — it simply looks like careful, considered textile work. It suits natural linen, aged wood and raw ceramic with equal ease.
