Description
The tiger’s eye strength stone pendant rests at the collarbone, its surface catching light in shifting bands of amber and gold. Polished to a high gloss, the stone is warm to the touch, its chatoyancy deepening as the wearer moves.
Tiger’s eye is a metamorphic quartz found primarily in South Africa and Western Australia, formed when crocidolite fibers are replaced by silica under sustained geological pressure. The resulting optical band, called chatoyancy, rolls across the surface in light like a cat’s-eye reflection, and occurs only in stones with perfectly aligned fibers. In lapidary traditions across Southeast Asia and China, tiger’s eye has long been selected for pendants worn close to the body: the stone’s density and warmth make it well suited to sustained contact with the skin.
This pendant is set in a silver-toned metal bail and hangs on an adjustable cord. The stone measures approximately 30mm in length and 20mm at its widest point, with a depth of roughly 8mm. Polishing is achieved by hand-tumbling followed by a final buff, which draws out the full movement of the chatoyant band. Weight is light, the stone sitting flat against the chest without pulling. Cord length adjusts to fit most necklines.
