Description

Mystica UnderWater pendant holds a miniature world within a curve of resin. Blues deepen from shallow turquoise to dark ocean, layered into the material itself, set on a sandalwood base whose warm grain grounds the piece in something familiar.

The miniature landscape tradition runs deep in Asian craft: Chinese scholar’s rocks selected for the landscape implied within a single stone, Japanese netsuke dense with detail at thumb scale, Balinese carvers working amber and resin into contained natural forms. The Mystica series extends this into wearable scale, using resin as a medium that allows layered depth and internal luminosity impossible in stone or carved wood. The sandalwood base draws on a separate strand: South Asian woodcraft, where sandalwood has been shaped and worn for millennia, prized as much for its scent as its grain.

Each Mystica UnderWater pendant is individually made; no two are the same. The resin body is built in layers during curing, with color, texture, and fine details placed at different depths within the material, creating the sense of looking down into water. The sandalwood base sits flush with the resin body, shaped and smoothed by hand. A metal bail set into the upper resin allows the pendant to hang from a cord or chain (sold separately). Dimensions vary slightly between pieces.
