Description

The Mystica dark hurricane pendant holds a landscape in suspension: swirling forms caught in resin above a sandalwood base, each piece formed by hand and drawn differently from the last. An object that arrives as itself, not as a type.

The Mystica series draws its visual language from the tradition of Asian landscape painting, in which weather, mountain, and ocean are rendered as states of force rather than static topography. The dark hurricane motif appears in Chinese ink work and in the cosmological imagery of Balinese sacred art, where storm forms carry symbolic weight as agents of transformation. Each pendant in the series is individually cast: no mold produces identical results, and the interior landscape of every piece is a singular event within the material.

The pendant body is cast resin, approximately 8 cm in height, with the landscape suspended within a transparent field that reveals depth and layered movement as the light angle shifts. The base is turned sandalwood, a dense hardwood native to the forests of South and Southeast Asia, known for its warm amber grain and a mild, dry fragrance that persists for years without treatment. The sandalwood base measures approximately 6 cm in diameter, providing stable footing and a material counterpoint to the cool clarity of the resin above.
