Description

The note rises slowly after the striker lifts, sustaining itself in the air with a warmth that seems to come from every wall and surface at once.

Singing bowls have been part of Himalayan Buddhist practice for centuries, used by monks and practitioners to mark the start and end of meditation, to clear a space of accumulated distraction, and to return attention to the present moment through sustained sound. They are produced across Nepal, Tibet, and northern India by craftspeople who form the bowl through repeated hammer strikes over a curved mold. The tradition of inscribing the exterior with sacred text is common in Tibetan and Nepali workshops, where mantras and dedicatory phrases are worked into the metal before the piece is complete.

This bowl is hand-hammered from copper, a material valued for its acoustic resonance and the warm amber tone it lends to the surface. The exterior carries traditional inscriptions rendered in relief alongside the textured traces left by the shaping process. The rim is smooth and even, and the interior is finished to produce a clean, sustained tone when the bowl is struck or circled with a wooden mallet.

The bowl is made from a copper alloy. Exact dimensions and weight vary by individual piece and are available on request. To care for the surface, wipe with a dry cloth after use and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, which can disrupt the natural patina that forms over time.

Singing bowls of this type are used in meditation practice, sound-based therapeutic contexts, and as contemplative objects in domestic spaces. A wooden striker is included.
