Amethyst deposits are worked extensively across the Himalayan region and Southeast Asia, with significant sources in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Chrysocolla, a copper silicate formed in the oxidation zones of copper ore deposits, appears across Central Asia and Russia’s Altai mountains. Mala necklaces in the 108-bead count follow Buddhist devotional traditions across Tibet, Nepal, and northern India, where craftspeople selected stones for their color and mineral character. This necklace draws on that lapidary tradition, alternating the two stones on knotted silk cord.

The necklace holds 108 beads: alternating 8mm rounds of polished amethyst and chrysocolla, with a larger guru bead at the center point. Amethyst beads present in translucent violet, individually polished to a smooth, glassy surface. Chrysocolla beads carry blue-green tones with natural mottling, no two identical. The strand is hand-knotted on silk cord between each bead, distributing tension and protecting the stones from contact wear.
