Origine Afghanistan e Tibet, il turchese grezzo è stato estratto dalle montagne carsiche e poi tagliato dagli artigiani nepalesi. Questa pietra è stata scelta per la sua stabilità cromatica e la sua densità, che permettono al filo di attraversare le generazioni. La tradizione del mala risale agli antichi testi sanscriti, dove il mala da 108 grani segnava ogni tappa del ciclo rituale.
Ogni grano di turchese mostra una densità minerale da 2,6 a 2,8, garantendo resistenza all’usura quotidiana. Il diametro dei grani varia tra 8 e 10 mm, calibrazione che assicura una simmetria tattile. La tonalità verde-azzurra proviene dall’ossido di rame presente nella matrice minerale. Il filo di cotone non tinto sostiene il peso senza scivolare.
